WACO School District was formed in 1962 with the consolidation of schools in Wayland, Crawfordsville, and Olds. At one time, Ainsworth was going to be included in the consolidation.
By using the first letters of each community, WACO (Wayland, Ainsworth, Crawfordsville, and Olds) was born.
Waco is a city in Texas named after the Hueco (Waco) Indi-ans, who were part of the Wichita tribe.
While we love having the name in common, “we are WACO.”
