The Parks & Recreation Department has initiated the fundraising phase of the Dankwardt Park Playground Project. We are excited to see the interest and support the playground has generated to date. This will be a lasting project for the community, where children and families will be able to make memories for years to come.
This large-scale project will replace the existing and outdated Dankwardt Park playground with new playground structures, play elements, surfacing, sidewalk connections, and site amenities that are inclusive, accessible, challenging and imaginative. The layout will allow individuals of all ages and abilities to explore, have fun, interact, and enjoy the park like never before.
The primary goal of this project is to create an inclusive, destination playground for kids of all ages and abilities in the Southeast Iowa Region. The playground will use state of the art design and offer play value that is unique, imaginative, encourages active engagement, increases fitness, offers transition play and is safe, fun and challenging.
While significant funding has been committed to date, additional support is needed to make this project a reality.
