FMCSD Shows Growth in Student Test Scores

At the Board of Directors meeting last work session, Monday, November 7th, FMCSD principals shared student performance Fall data highlighting growth areas in literacy and math as measured by the State of Iowa FAST assessment for grades K-8 and the MAP assessment for grades 9-12.

Richardson and Lincoln Elementary School celebrations included growth in both literacy and math performance in first, second and third grades from when students exited in the Spring.  Kindergarten students showed higher achievement levels in their Fall scores than those of their peers from last year.

Fort Madison Middle School also celebrated literacy growth in grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades.  Growth in math from spring to fall included grades 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.  7th grade students held the same percentage in math.  8th grade saw a small dip in their Fall math score.

Fort Madison High School closed out the evening’s presentations with huge increases in achievement growth showing dramatic increases in literacy in math upwards of 10-26 percentage points.  Science showed increased achievement by 20%.

The 2022-2023 District goal is to see an increase of 10% growth  in math, reading, and science scores.
