Of the 8,574 people living in Mount Pleasant in 2020, 47 percent (4,027) were women and 53 percent (4,547) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the SE Iowa News.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by 887. In the 65 and over age range, there were 903 females and 571 males.
