Jefferson County Health Center issued the following announcement on November 9.
With the recent authorization of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in children aged 5-11, Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) is hosting several pediatric mass vaccination clinics over the coming weeks. Clinics will be held at JCHC Clinics and are scheduled after school hours to make it easier for children to receive their immunizations.
The dates and times of the clinics are as follows:

Parents may schedule their children by scheduling online (click here to schedule) or calling the JCHC COVID-19 hotline at 641-469-4180. Only the first dose will need to be scheduled – second dose shots will be scheduled during the initial appointment.
If families cannot attend a mass vaccination clinic, pediatric COVID-19 vaccinations may also be scheduled during regular JCHC Clinic hours by calling the COVID hotline at 641-469-4180.
The Pfizer vaccine is administered as a two-dose series, with the second dose administered 21 days after the first. Adults and children over the age of 5 are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the Pfizer vaccine was nearly 91 percent effective at preventing COVID-19 in children aged 5-11.
