Burlington Building Bridges helps local families and individuals to build and maintain sustainable lives through education, mentoring, social supports and programs designed to lift people out of poverty. Your support helps make your community stronger.
Join the Bridges program for their second annual "chair-ity" auction, a fun way to raise funds! Through September 17, groups and individuals may donate chairs by bringing them to The Loft on Jefferson. Here's how it works:
ANY group can donate a chair - churches, businesses, you and your friends, clubs - all it takes is a chair and some creative determination!
What kind of chairs can be donated? Kitchen chairs, office chairs, barstools, rocking chairs, recliners, kids chairs - ANY chair is welcome, but creativity is key!
Each chair entered should have a creative theme and be accessorized with items that relate to the chair or business/ group who donated it. For instance, a beautifully painted rocking chair could include a blanket or pillow; a barstool could include a book of drink recipes, set of glasses, drink koozie, etc.; a recliner could come with slippers, snacks, or a remote control.
If your business donates a chair, it could come equipped with merchandise, gift card, or vouchers from your store.
The chairs will be displayed in downtown store windows. Starting September 24, bids may be placed by stopping at the business displaying the chair, online bidding in the Facebook event, or calling 319-754-8421 to place a bid. Bidding closes at midnight on October 5/6.
If you'd like to donate, want to help in another way or just have a question, call Bridges at 319-754-8421. For more information about Burlington Building Bridges, visit the website at burlingtonbuildingbridges.org or follow Burlington Building Bridges on Facebook.
