Parkinson's Disease Support Group

Parkinsons

Jefferson County Health Center issued the following announcement on July 15.

Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) is reconvening its Parkinson’s support group for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Sessions are the 1st Tuesday of each month, beginning August 3, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the health center. Parkinson’s patients, their family, their friends, and anyone who may find benefit from this event, are welcome to attend.

Sessions will be focused on learning, sharing experiences, and establishing connections among group members. Michelle Boeding-Kreuter, speech language pathologist at JCHC, will lead the group and facilitate conversation. “I am looking forward to helping the group get up and going again after this past year,” said Boeding-Kreuter. “I feel the group can be a wonderful resource for those in the community trying to be successful and live the best they can by providing information, resources, and a place to speak with others.”

The group, started in late 2019, has plans to feature external speakers on a variety of topics that are important to participants. Boeding-Kreuter and other support group organizers plan to balance outside speakers with other events, such as sharing sessions, open discussion topics and educational activities.

Those interested in attending the support group can visit our events page for more information. This support group is organized and funded in part by the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association. Questions may be directed to Michelle Boeding-Kreuter at MBoeding-Kreuter@JeffersonCountyHealthCenter.org or at 641-469-4353.
