A recent donation from Ottumwa's business community members will help Jefferson County build a new child care center.

“We understand and fully support the impact this new Early Childhood Learning Center will have in Fairfield and Jefferson County,” Greg Hanshaw, CEO of Community 1st Credit Union, told KTVO. “Partnering with local organizations to promote community betterment is really what our credit union philosophy of 'People Helping People' is all about. We look forward to watching this project unfold soon.”

The business community donated a total of $25,000 to Jefferson County developers, which will be building the Jefferson County Kids Early Childhood Learning Center across from the Jefferson County Health Center.

The project is expected to cost $3.5 million, KTVO reported.

Community 1st Credit Union was able to make the donation through the C1st Credit Union Impact Giving Fun of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.
