Congratulations to Alexander Sekowski, our September YP Spotlight!
Why did you decide to join YP?
When I first moved here from the suburbs of Chicago, I saw YP as a great opportunity to network and make connections and friends with other people my age in the community.
What community organizations/events do you volunteer for?
I sing tenor with the Burlington Bel Canto Chorale, participating in the scheduled concerts as well as other seasonal caroling opportunities. I am also a member of the Des Moines County Historical Society, and shoot for a Monday night dart league.
What do you enjoy most about the Greater Burlington area?
What I enjoy the most is how genuinely kind the people of this community are. I also really enjoy all of the events and seasonal things that Burlington hosts, such as the wine walk in the spring and fall, and living windows in the winter.
Share one thing about yourself that makes you stand out from other YP members.
Coming from a larger city to moving here at 1/3 of the population I'm used to, I believe this gives me a unique perspective and helps me appreciate all of the little things that make Burlington great. The town I was from did not host the community type events that Burlington does, events that I have grown to love and look forward to every year.
