Any Iowan who wants to be tested for COVID-19 can have the opportunity to do so, whether they've shown symptoms or have possibly been exposed to the virus or not, according to WGEM.
It's all part of a statewide effort called Test Iowa. The goal was to expand access to testing to faster identify positive cases, trace any contact with a patient who tested positive, and figure out the extent of the virus in a particular community.
Gov. Kim Reynolds announced last week that additional testing sites would be opened up in Burlington, Council Bluffs, Marshalltown and Sioux Center. Reynolds said 1,700 appointments were scheduled in a day after the state expanded coronavirus testing to include everyone. Testing locations and hours of operations can be found on testiowa.com.
In order to be tested, Iowans must schedule an appointment and fill out an assessment on the website.
