Iowa Auditor of State released a report on April 10, which revealed issues with Lee County's EMS Ambulance, Inc.
State Auditor Rob Sand's report addresses a lack of segregation responsibilities, material amounts of ambulance assets and debts not correctly recorded in the EMS Ambulance, Inc. statements, negligent accounts, absence of timely ambulance payroll taxes submission and several other issues, according to WGEM.
In a statement, Sand said the County Board of Supervisors, elected officials and EMS management have a fiduciary to see over Lee County's EMS Ambulance's business operations and transactions, according to WGEM.
Lee County has also seen an 18.6% increase in county revenue from the previous year, Sand said in his statement. In 2019, the county operations totaled over $26 million, which was a 1.5% increase from 2018. This year the county's revenues totaled about $29 million.
According to WGEM, Sand said the large increase is due to capital grants for transportation and roads.
