CITY OF KEOKUK: Important Notice for Deer Hunters

City of Keokuk issued the following announcement on Oct. 12. 

A Keokuk City Ordinance now in effect allows BOW HUNTING by special permit within the Keokuk city limits. Hunters must comply with all Iowa DNR rules and hold current DNR hunting licenses.

Hunters must also pass an authorized archery proficiency test each year with the bow they will use to hunt with in Keokuk. The test will not allow for any warm up shots and will only allow for a maximum of two (2) attempts each year to successfully complete the test. The test will consist of five (5) total shots at twenty (20) yards; fifteen (15) yards for traditional hunters. The hunter must score at least eighty percent (80%) within an eight inch (8") circle.

Required archery proficiency testing dates:

Wednesday, October 16, 2019 @ 5:00 p.m.
